same size as the KMP but a heck of a lot faster powered by a large electric motor.

Also shown is a 1.50 size P-51 with a 220 and an 80" B-17 with aluminum skin with rivits AND is powered by 4 electric motors. The CMP plane is alsost twice as fast and looks a lot better doing fast low passes because there's no engine cylinder poking out the bottom.įirts pic.KMP Me-109 with saito 180. I have a KMP ME-109 with a 180 saito in it(yup a single cylinder because they dont make a multi cylinder motor to fit this plane) as well as a CMP Me-109 with an electric motor. There is a place for both and usually, the electric version is much faster. I fly both fuel powered and electric powered large warbirds. If you(general statement) dont like electric, so be it.but its not your right nor place to call someone else's plane a disgrace because its not powered by a motor "you" deem accurate. its the kind of snobbish attitude some harbor that sometimes makes the hobby less enjoyable or simply make one shake his head with a what the frack is your issue question. Planes as well so we dont get further "disgraced" by othersĪctually, the 109 was not a radial engined planeĮxactly. If we where really splitting hairs then I guess we should be building correctĪluminum spared wings, tube frames, chrome molly steel, aluminum covered Use those type of engines, so singles are what is used (actually there is a 1/5 We cant get V12 or V16 engines for our planes that

plus in some cases they are cost prohibitiveįor the builder, so a more economical single is used. They dont fully replicate the correct engine that was in the real plane anyways as we can get a radial engine for them, so what To fully replicate a scale warbird whether it is 1/4 scale, 1/5 scale or whatever Someone because they didnt do it "right"? It is like to actually build a scale plane anyways.

The funny thing I see though is the people that ***** about others that dontīuild their warbirds scale, and "disgrace" them with electric, or dont put in theĬorrect "radial" engine as per the full scale, dont build, own or even know what no comparison.Īctually, the 109 was not a radial engined plane, it was probably a FW 190 AĮlectrics are fine, for those that dont like them, dont build them that wayĪs Ty has posted above, he and others (myself included) have been messing i would be embarrassed to fly my one cylinder warbird following that radial plane. nothing and i mean nothing sounds like a radial powered warbird. 1 time is all it took while attending a warbird flyin a radial powered 109 kept doing 135+ mph low flybys and i was hooked. especially a model of a radial powered plane.

why do builders craft such magnificent warbirds and then power them with single cylinder engines. Thank you!! great post but i will take it one step further.
